Deschamps: “Looking to the future”

“A five day break gives the players plenty of time to be fit for the next game and that leaves me with difficult selection choices. I have my own ideas and I know I can’t make everyone happy, but that’s my job. There might well be some changes to the team that started against Treviso”. Didier Deschamps was characteristically coy as he spoke to the press ahead of Saturday’s clash with Triestina.

The Frenchman looked ahead to Saturday’s game. “Against Treviso we seemed to turn up five minutes after the referee had blown his whistle. Triestina conceded just three goals in six games so it’s not going to be easy. It’s down to us what kind of result we get, but they will definitely be up for it”. A win on Saturday would make it six in a row. “As I always say, with every win we’re one game closer to defeat. We need to go into the game with the right attitude. I watched Treviso’s game with Piacenza and the team that played then bore almost no resemblance to the one we faced last weekend. Teams will always raise their game when they’re playing us”.
